Preventive Health and Safety Training and Nutrition
This is a eight (8) hours classroom-based course designed to meet the California Emergency Medical Authority (EMSA) state licensing requirements for child care. The training provides instruction that is comprehensive and practical. The course prepares administrators and employees of child care centers and family child homes small or large to keep the children in their care safe and healthy from injury and illness.
Participants will learn information about infectious diseases (including immunizations), preventative childhood injuries, caring for children with special needs, identification, reporting of child abuse, and childcare nutrition training.
This 8-hour course is CPR – Adult, Child & Infant and Pediatric First Aid training designed specifically for California State Licensed Child Care Providers and people seeking Child Care licensing in the State of California to satisfy the State requirement for 8 hours of special training in CPR & pediatric first aid that includes extra topics required by the State of California EMS Authority. Satisfies Title 22 requirements for CPR & First Aid Training requirements for Child Care Providers. Unique/ Required topics covered in this course include: Required Consent and Information forms for Child Care settings, Emergency Follow-Up Steps, utilizing the Child Care First Aid Action Plans, and Dealing with Asthma and other Respiratory Emergencies.

California Childcare Pediatric First Aid CPR AED
This is a classroom-based course designed to meet the 8 hours of EMSA child care training that includes Pediatric First Aid CPR and AED use. This American Heart Association course meets part of the EMSA regulatory requirements for child care workers in the state of California. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The Four Steps of Pediatric First Aid (Prevent, Be Safe, Phone 911, Act).
The course covers the four steps of pediatric First Aid, CPR AED, and asthma care training, illnesses and injuries, child and infant safety checklist, how children act and tips for Interacting with them, CPR AED and Choking: CPR and AED for Adult, Children & Infant, How to Help a Choking Adult, Child & Infant.
The course is for those involved in child care that have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. This audience includes child care workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp counselors, youth organizations and coaches for children’s sports organizations. This course is also ideal for parents, grandparents, babysitters and guardians
Every two (2) years, child care providers must renew their training by completing 4 hours of pediatric First Aid and 4 hours of pediatric CPR. If an instructor provides a course in fewer hours than required, the training is not in compliance with the law. Report this situation to the EMS Authority at (916) 322-4336.

Before agreeing to pay for a training course in pediatric First Aid, pediatric CPR, or Preventive Health practices, ask to see the training program or instructors certification card or other documents authorizing them to train child care providers.

Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR AED
The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age - adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.

Adult CPR AED
This course will prepare you to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 1 hour 5 minutes to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult CPR/AED valid for two years.

Bloodborne Pathogens
Designed for those who are at risk for on the job exposure to blood and other bodily fluids in the workplace. The course teaches staff how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to avoid exposure and what to do if exposed to infectious material. This course is one of the requirements of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. After taking this course, students should talk with their employer about their workplace’s specific policies and procedures. Those who complete the training receive a Bloodborne Pathogens Training certification valid for one year
